"ZOMBIE FES 2026" is a music festival that will actually be held in Yokosuka in October 2026. Artists will take to the stage and the audience will go wild at this real festival venue, while filming for the movie will also take place simultaneously. The excitement of a real live performance will intersect with a fictional zombie panic. It has now been decided that the movie "ZOMBIE FES" will be produced and released in theaters nationwide in 2027.

The setting for the film "Zombie Fest" is the actual "ZOMBIE FES 2026" event, whichwillbeheldforfour days from October 29th (Thursday) to November 1st (Sunday) at Umikaze Park in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture.Thedresscodeis"zombie."Thevenuewillbefilledwithattendees dressed aszombiesintheir own unique ways, with wound makeup, face paint, and distressed costumes.

The stage will feature four different acts each day: Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, Nonfik!, Takamine no Nadeshiko, and Phantom Siita. Live performances by actual artists, the enthusiasm of the audience gathered there, and a zombie panic orchestrated specifically for the film—the real festival and the fictional story unfold simultaneously, capturing the excitement that can only be generated over those four days and bringing it all into the world of the film.

A unique talent combining J-horror and cult movies

Director Mitsutake Kurato ("Karajishi Kamen LION-GIRL") and screenwriter Masayuki Ochiai ("Tales of the Unusual") are among those participating.

The film is directed by Mitsutake Kurato, a cult movie genius who has worked as an assistant director under directors such as Takashi Shimizu and Masayuki Ochiai, and has also built a career in the United States. His works such as "Gun Woman," "Karate Kill," and "Lion-Girl" have been released both domestically and internationally, and have garnered support from cult movie fans overseas. The screenplay is written by Masayuki Ochiai, a leading J-horror filmmaker who has worked on films such as "Hypnosis" and "Infection," and has directed numerous works for "Tales of the Unusual." Mitsutake, who has expanded his activities overseas, and Ochiai, who has been at the forefront of J-horror, have teamed up to take on the challenge of a unique theatrical film:"music festival x zombies."

Synopsis

World's first!? A screaming panic festival movie, show begins!

October 2026, Yokosuka. The music festival "ZOMBIE FES 2026" kicks off, attracting 2,000 attendees. The dress code is "zombie." The venue is filled with fans, their faces covered in blood and bodies riddled with wounds, enthusiastically enjoying the live performances. But what if a "real zombie"had somehow infiltrated the crowd?!

One by one, the number of infected people increases, and the cheers turn into screams. The festival venue, which was supposed to be fun, suddenly becomes a survival stage with no escape. Yet, the artists on stage do not stop singing. Zombies have appeared. The live show continues! Phantom Siita, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, Nonfik!, and Takamine no Nadeshiko all make appearances. Set in a real festival, the story depicts the artists and 2,000 audience members getting involved in the events.
